Does the World Really Need Another Podcast?
My sister and I chop it up about business all the time. We decided to record it.
There are a lot of “voices” out there for small and mid-sized business (SMB) owners, operators, and leaders.
You have the Grant Cardones of the world, who tell you how simple it is to build a 1,000-person sales team.
You have Andy Elliott, who’ll convince you the secret to business success is a roid-induced six-pack.
And Codie Sanchez, perhaps one of the more accessible of the new influencers, will pitch you on the idea of owning 10–15 “Main Street businesses,” because “it’s really not that difficult!”
Alas, these perspectives often feel divorced from reality.
Being a CEO is hard. Owning a business is hard. Operating a business is hard.
And to make it sound easy, as if buying a course for a few thousand bucks will solve your problems, is borderline insulting.
In talking with hundreds of business operators over the last decade, through EO, our insurance captive, speaking engagements, and simply people I know in my community, it’s pretty clear: we all struggle with the same things. And those are the things my sister, and kick-ass business operator, Meredith Monday Schwartz, and I have been riffing about for 15 years.
So in early 2025, we went away for a few days for a mini Think Week.
And from that retreat, Monday Next, our new podcast, was born.
The premise is simple: Meredith and I have a ton of respect for each other. We each run businesses with 40–50 team members and very similar revenue. But we operate in vastly different industries. She’s in the wedding industry, and I’m in construction. And we use very different approaches.
So when we tackle a topic, we share common ground, fundamental philosophies, background, and experience, but we come at it from completely different angles. It’s fun. It’s entertaining. And now, it’s public.
By the time you read this, Episodes 1–3 will be out on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other platforms.
If you own, operate, or otherwise lead a business or organization, Monday Next is for you. We hope you’ll give it a spin.
And lastly, as my business coach Greg would always ask, “What’s your why behind this?”
Fair question.
All I know is Meredith and I have enjoyed the hell out of prepping for it and recording it. And many people have already mentioned they’ve found it helpful, and even entertaining. I guess projects like this are our version of art: something we created, did our best to produce, and then released into the world for others’ benefit.
So, does the world really need another podcast?
I guess you’ll be the one to decide.
Thanks for reading this post. I appreciate you. In return, please share this with those you know who may be interested.
Free Guide: 🧠 Build Your 2026 Business Plan Using AI
I just released my full framework for building a 2026 Playbook: a simple, AI-assisted process to help you plan the year ahead in hours, not days.
If you lead a business or team, this is the exact tool I use every October to clarify goals, align strategy, and make next year’s planning effortless.
Things I've Enjoyed Lately: The Thinking Game is one of the most fascinating documentaries I’ve seen in years. It follows Demis Hassabis, a child prodigy who founded DeepMind, the company that, in essence, invented the AI you and I most certainly use now. If you’ve ever wondered, “Where did all of this come from?” this is the answer.

Fantastic pushback on the influencer hype machine. The gap between Grant Cardone's world and actual SMB operations is massive, and most folks running40-50 person teams dunno how they'd even apply that kind of advice. I've seen this firsthand with mid-market companies where the "just scale it bro" mentality crashes into realiyt like workforce retention or cashflow. What really stands out is the cross-industry dynamic between wedding and consturction since operational rhythms are wildly different but headcount challenges probably overlap more than most realize.
